WELCOME @ Indira Gandhi National College

WHO WE ARE

Located in the lap of nature and shining in the glory and suplendour of lush-green fields, and beautified with serenity and sweetness of natural environment, Indira Gandhi National College was conceived, fathered and brought into existence by Late Sh. Om Parkash Garg the then MLA, by enlisting the support of the leading personalities of the area and mobilizing the necessary funds for this mammoth project. 37 acres of land for the purpose was donated by village Panchayat Dhanora.

The foundation stone of the college was laid by the then Chief Minister of Haryana Ch. Bansi Lal on Jan 24,1974 after obtaining permission from the then Prime Minister Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi to christen the institution after her name. The college started functioning in July 1975, with two faculties viz Humanities and commerce with a makeshift arrangement at Kissan Rest House, Ladwa.

The task of constructing a splendid and airy building in all its beauty and modernity gathered momentum and we were able to have the building inaugurated on Nov. 30, 1975 by the then Governor of Haryana, Late Sh. B.N. Chakarvarti.

Making rapid strides in the academic field, the institution achieved another milestone in 1985 by introducing the coveted faculty of Science -Medical & Non–Medical streams up to B.Sc. with the blessing and inspirational guidance of Sh. L.M. Jain IAS, the then education commissioner and secretary.

The college can justly boast of its magnificently designed building sprawling, beautifully maintained lawns, a huge stadium covering an area of six acres, well equipped science laboratories, a rich library equipped with the treasure of the literary classics and science books.

Being very particular about the growth of the personalities of the girl students, the management of the College introduced the subject of Home Science and constructed a well-furnished Home Science Lab. for the purpose. We feel delighted and proud to mention that our Col1ege organised National Integration Camp in 1985, which was graced by the participation of as many as 22 universiti¬ties from across the country. With the participation of 350 volunteers, it was a grand success as its valedictory ceremony was covered at the National hook. Special encouragement is given to the students to participate in Sports, NSS, NCC and Cultural Activities. Our achievements in these fields are quite glorious and creditable
